Synopsis

The story begins when Nico arrives from his native Spain to Germany to visit his aunt who lives there. He barely knew how to speak German. Everything went fine until he lost his travel bag, including his passport and cellphone. The bag was accidentally carried away by the taxi driver who was picking up the passenger's bag. However, it was fortunate that there were people who were kind enough to help find Nico's bag, namely Lisa and Emma. Lisa and Emma take Nico to town, even though they don't know exactly where he wants to go. Nico also learns various vocabulary words, numbers, and how to say his name in German. Then Max, Lisa's friend, has an idea to help Nico find his aunt in Germany. Lisa asks her father, a policeman, to help find Nico's aunt named Yara. . Nico stayed a few days at Lisa's house and Lisa's friends, Sebastian and Nina. Sebastian managed to get Yara's shop address because he posted a photo of Yara on his Facebook page but unfortunately the address was wrong. That night Nico meets Salma, who is from Damascus, and learns what are called cardinal directions in German. Then Lisa tells Nico that Lisa and her friends are going on vacation so Nico can't stay over at Lisa's house. Then finally he found a place to live with an old woman named Inge. The next day he is asked to babysit Emma all day long, this is where Nico learns about the timetable in German. Nico also learned road directions in German when arranging Lisa's leftover document. The next day Lisa's father came and told her that he had Yara's address. Lisa and Nico went to that address but unfortunately the shop was closed. That day he started living with Inge, where he learned about cleaning the house in German. Unexpectedly, Max, Yara, and Tarek have a bicycle shop together. But Yara was away for a while somewhere. Nico went shopping with Inge before going home. Nico learned how to determine the total weight (grams, pounds, kilograms) in German. Later, Salma accidentally finds Nico's bag on the side of the road and immediately gives it to Nico. After an investigation it turned out that Yara went to Switzerland after getting a telephone. They decided to wait for his return. The next day Yara returns from Switzerland and meets Nico and Tarek at their bicycle shop. He was very surprised to find Nico there. This story was cut until this moment and will continue in the next episode ...

review

Nico's Weg is a German short film published by a channel on YouTube called Deutsch lernen mit der DW in 2019. This film is an amalgamation of several episodes. For each episode, the program offers interactive exercises with which students can deepen the material. This film has the theme die deutsche Kultur. In watching this film we will learn about vocabulary, grammar and basic conversations in everyday life in German. Nicos Weg has a hilarious feel throughout the film, but as a 16 year old high school student, I felt like I was watching a soap opera when I was a kid. But, seeing it from a German beggar's point of view, I enjoyed it because the language spoken was easy to understand even though I came across some new words that I didn't know before.

There are several things that bother me when I watch the entire film from the start. I just wonder why Nico is so fast at learning German and picking up new words let alone putting them into coherent sentences. Like, I'm so jealous of him. Maybe because he's European too? Spanish is not that different from German

Overall, I like Nicos Weg. As a learner, having to watch this film at weeknight makes my day, plus we can, uh, get away from our struggles at school. I hope to watch other German films. Education or entertainment wise.

Furthermore, I also wonder how friendly the Germans are. I mean, in real real life. Should that be? To help like Lisa, to be as generous as Inge, to be cheerful like Selma? Did that really happen in Germany? Will it happen to me if I lose my bag? Ha ha ha. Yes, only movies. I know. It seemed to me their generosity and kindness were kind of hyperbolic. Adding antagonists and a few realistic situations would be overwhelming.

Deficiency:

In my opinion, this film did not succeed in stealing the emotional desire of the audience. It would be better if there are antagonistic actors to create a story that will make the audience mixed with emotions while watching. Because what I have seen in this film the storyline is good and neat, it's just that my emotions didn't come out at all while watching. Surely the audience will be very interested in a film that involves the audience's emotions becoming unstable between anger, sadness, joy, confusion, anxiety, tension and others. So that a film that is packed with emotions will give birth to an impression that is conveyed implicitly through the feelings that will stick to the audience which makes the film succeed in presenting a work very mature.

Advantages:

This film is very good for learning German in a fun way because we can get to know firsthand how to speak German in the language in everyday life with fairly light conversations. In this film we can learn about vocabulary, pronunciation, noun adjectives and much more in German as well as find out how to put them into practice when talking. The storyline of this film is made quite interesting with various conflicts arranged and packaged quite neatly. The acting of the actors in this film is also quite good in deepening their respective roles. And the most important thing is that the delivery of basic German language material here is conveyed very well and makes it easy for the audience to absorb the learning very effectively and is also fun.

Is Social Media Good For Teenagers?

Is Social Media Good For Teenagers?   Social media has become an integral part of nearly every teenager in the world.  As a result, parents, educators, and other adults have a great desire to understand the role that social media plays in teens’ lives. Some are optimistic about social media use, while others are sure it will cause more harm than good, especially when it comes to the emotional well-being of the teens. Mostly teenagers spend much of their time engaging in activities on Instagram. They are updating status, posting pictures, liking, and commenting and others posting for nearly six hours a day on average. For many, their addiction to social media has started to interfere with their daily lives and parents are outraged. The obvious question for most is when has social media use become an addiction and what should be done about it. Teens of today are the first to embark upon teenage years with social networking sites; therefore it is still unclear if social networking will
